Step 1: Generating GST Application Form Online
In the first step, you need to generate the GST application form you. And for this, you need to get a Temporary Registration Number (TRN) before you can apply for a GSTIN. To get the Temporary Registration Number, you must have an Indian mobile number, an email address, and a permanent Account Number also known as PAN short for your business. keep one thing in mind all these details should belong to the business to that you are applying the GSTIN, not you. So to avoid any kinds of mistakes and delays in the process make sure you must have all the required documents and then visit the GST portal — www.gst.gov.in.
On the homepage of this website, you will the “Services” option. just click on the “Services” tab and select the Registration tab. On the next page, a “New Registration” option will appear. Click it. After that, a form will appear and you will see many text fields where you need to enter your information related to your businesses. You will see the following option as
- you are a taxpayer,
- a tax deductor, a GST practitioner,
- a non-resident taxable person,
- a United Nations body,
- a consulate or an embassy of a foreign country,
- a non-resident online services provider, or some other declared person. After selecting your preferred option you also need to enter your Name, PAN card number, email address, State, District, business name, and Mobile number.
Note that you need to enter your current Mobile number and email address this is because The OTP will be sent to your entered mobile number and email address. After filling out your form, you need to solve the CAPTCHA to verify that you are not a robot and then click on “Proceed.”. Now you will receive the OTP on your registered mobile number and email address, which will be valid for 10 minutes. In case you don’t get OTP then you can regenerate the OTP by clicking the request new OTPs. Now enter the OTPs on the following page. After that, the Temporary Reference Number (TRN) will be generated.
Now You will need to enter the TRN by clicking on the Next button to the New Registration button on the New Registration page. Again solve the CAPTCHA for human verification and then click on the “Proceed” option. Again you will need to verify your number by entering the OTPs that you will send on your registered mobile number as well as your email address. after when these processes will be Authenticated with both one-time passwords then you will be redirected to the “My Saved Application” window. In this section, you will be needed to enter some extra information within 15 days. And In case you are unable to do this process then your TRN will be removed and again you will have to start the process from the beginning.
Step 2: Now Filling the GST Application Form
There are 10 sections in the GST application which has divided into 10 different tabs. - Verification with e-signature and
- Verification with EVC.

During the verification, the GST agent will either approve or reject your application. You will see “Approved”message If your application is approved, and your application will sent on your email address and an SMS will be sent to you saying you that GSTIN has been generates.
The message that you will receive contain temporary username & password that can be used to log into the GST portal. But you don’t need to worry you cn change your username and password after signing with your temporary username and password. Hence in just 3 to 5 days yu can download your Registration Certificate, which will act as valid proof of your GST identification number.
